It’s probably not much of a shock that respected watchmakers Tag Heuer have decided to drop Tiger Woods as one of their spokesmen. They are ending a ten year relationship with the troubled golfer and they hope he can “overcome his difficulties.” Tag Heuer actually stopped using images of Tiger Woods in the United States back in December 2009, just a few weeks after his martial “problems” first began.
“We are confident that Tiger will eventually regain full trust with the public, and that his huge talent and mental strength will help him overcome his difficulties,” Tag Heuer chief executive Jean-Christophe Babin said in a statement. Tag Heuer certainly isn’t sorry for their past relationship, admitting the partnership has been beneficial to both parties. I’m sure Tag Heuer is more upset than Tiger knowing they lost a big money maker, or what used to be a big money maker. Tag Heuer certainly isn’t the first sponsor to give him the boot though. Several other companies dropped him shortly after December 2009 as well. But Tag Heuer has agreed to support his charitable foundation through the sales of a watch Woods’ designed.
